This monastery, according to tradition, was founded by the Emperor of Rome,Caracalla, but this isnt the only version that exists. It is celebrated on 29 June.
It suffered major disasters and in 16th century it was destroyed by pirates but it was built again. It has a very valuable library and several religious relics.
