Agios Athanasios in Kaimaktsalan

Kaimaktsalan is the most famous ski resort in Macedonia and one of the most famous winter destinations in Greece. It is 47 km away from the city of Edessa and 140 km away from Thessaloniki. It is located in the third highest mountain in Greece, Kaimaktsalan or Voras, at an altitude of 2500 meters.

Activities in the ski resort: In the ski resort you can engage in various winter sports such as ski and snowboard with safety since it is fully equipped with modern facilities. Visit Palaios Agios Athanasios: The nearest village in the ski resort is Palaios Agios Athanasios, which is built at 1200 meters altitude. It is a picturesque village, probably one of the most picturesque of Greece, with many tourists in the winter months. There, you can enjoy local dishes at one of its many tavernas, have fun in bars and cafes and of course you can buy souvenirs if you wish. Wander through its narrow streets and admire the traditional architecture which has managed to remain unchanged over time. Also visit the new village of Agios Athanasios which is located in the foothills of Voras.
Visit Edessa: You are in the prefecture of Pella, so do not miss the opportunity to visit the capital, Edessa. Edessa is a beautiful, small town with trademark, its waterfalls.
